Week 6 Preview - 2022

Week 6 Preview - 2022

Thursday March 24, 2022 - 8:15PM
(2-3) Salt Lake Trappers at (5-0) Los Angeles Express
Line: LA -1.5
O/U: 49.5
Win Pct: LA 53.6%
Salt Lake has gotten themselves on quite the losing streak. There are two games in this streak that should in no way have lost, but now here they are, after a 2-0 start sitting at 2-3. Can this team turn things around in the spotlight Thursday night? It’ll be a tough test, as they face one of the league's 3 remaining undefeated teams. The Express really haven’t been tested that much this year, and it really doesn’t look like they’re going to face their first real test until week 9. Until then, this team should just keep steady, and keep doing what they’re doing, because it’s working.

Sunday March 27, 2022 - 1:00PM
(1-4) Birmingham Owls at (1-4) Atlanta Flying Fleet
Line: BIR -1.5
O/U: 43
Win Pct: BIR 54.0%
Both the Owls and Flying Fleet come into this game on 4 game losing streaks, after opening day wins. This game presents a good opportunity for one of these teams to pick up a win. In a top heavy Eastern Conference, a win for either team today puts them well in the mix of the wild card, with a lot of season left to play.

Sunday March 27, 2022 - 1:00PM
(5-0) Boston Bobcats at (2-3) New York CityHawks
Line: BOS -0.5
O/U: 48
Win Pct: BOS 52.3%
A good win for New York last week has them starting back down the right path, but that could be short lived, as they host the league's top offense this week. The Bobcats are sitting pretty at 5-0 in the East division with a two game lead, and a chance to pick up another divisional win. If the CityHawks want to have a chance in this one, they either need to be the first team to find a way to slow down this offense, or score a ton of points.

Sunday March 27, 2022 - 1:00PM
(3-2) Dallas Regulators at (1-4) Kansas City Buffaloes
Line:DAL -1
O/U: 37.5
Win Pct: DAL 53.2%
After a tough loss last week, the better than expected regulators can pull themselves back with a favorable matchup in Kansas City. The Buffaloes haven’t been particularly impressive on any side of the ball so far this season, but they’ve shown us that when stars align, and the team is all on the same page, they can steal a win here or there.

Sunday March 27, 2022 - 1:00PM
(2-3) Jacksonville Captains at (3-2) Cincinnati Knights
Line: CIN -2
O/U: 44.5
Win Pct: BAL 56.3%
Both Jacksonville and Cincinnati picked up much needed wins last week. The Knights win was more impressive, but at the end of the day, it’s your place in the standings that’s going to count. With a very wide open Eastern Conference in terms of the three wild card spots, the winner of this one is going to be happy for it as we get into Summer, so this is going to be another big game that each team is going to want to fight hard to win.

Sunday March 27, 2022 - 1:00PM
(3-2) Louisiana Royals at (1-4) Miami Sol
Line: LOU -5
O/U: 49.5
Win Pct: LOU 61.2%
The Royals are starting to look like the team we thought they would, having pulled themselves up over .500. They travel to Miami, who isn’t a bad team at all, they just have run into some good teams, and have had some unfortunate losses. The Royals need to remain focused, otherwise this hungry Miami team will unleash the monsoon on them.

Sunday March 27, 2022 - 1:00PM
(2-3) Memphis Demons at (2-3) San Antonio Texans
Line: SA -0.5
O/U: 49.5
Win Pct: SA 51.6%
Hard to believe both of these teams have the same record. Memphis wasn’t expected to be great or anything this year, and they’ve certainly played better than the Texans in most games. The surprise here is the 2-3 Texans. Two weeks ago we witnessed one of the worst team performances in the short three year history of the GSL, but then last week saw the most shocking upset of the week, with the Texans stunning the then 4-0 Atoms. I don’t know what to make of this Texans team, but week 6 might unlock another clue as to who this team really is.

Sunday March 27, 2022 - 1:00PM
(3-2) Washington Stars at (2-3) Baltimore Bluebirds
Line: BAL -2
O/U: 43.5
Win Pct: BAL 54.5%
After a second straight loss, Washington is going to need to regroup this week in Baltimore, in a pivotal divisional matchup. The Bluebirds have started the year better than most thought, and for them, a win this week would be another big confidence boost for this young team. Neither team looks like they will have a shot at winning the East division with Boston sitting at the top, but there is plenty of room in the Eastern Conference for teams to be making moves.

Sunday March 27, 2022 - 4:30PM
(4-1) Albuquerque Atoms at (4-1) St. Louis Brewers
Line: STL -4.5
O/U: 48
Win Pct: STL 61.2%
Both Albuquerque and St. Louis suffered their first loss in week 5, meaning one of these two teams will be on a two game losing streak after a 4-0 start. The Brewers loss was a heartbreaking one, as the Lightning, with not much time left, turned a short pass into a 70+ yard catch and run for a game winning touchdown. This was the first game the Brewers gave up any touchdowns on the year, but they were playing a top team in the league, and went toe to toe with them throughout the game. The Atoms on the other hand lost a game that they should not have. Likely looking forward to the game this week, the Atoms defense did not take the Texans offense seriously, or didn’t do their research on Texans QB Michael Davis, who got the start this week over Cameron McDonald, after he was benched in the 48-0 slaughter last week. At any rate, this team needs to do better this week, and I’m sure this is a game they didn’t look past.

Sunday March 27, 2022 - 4:30PM
(2-3) Colorado Cabras at (4-1) Arizona Eagles
Line: COL -4.5
O/U: 47
Win Pct: COL 61.8%
Despite the loss of some key players in the offseason, the Eagles are still looking like a team that can play with the best of them. Off to another good start in 2022, they face off against the up and down Cabras. The way the Eagles have been playing lately, this could be another down week for Colorado.

Sunday March 27, 2022 - 4:30PM
(2-3) Oakland Icons at (1-4) Portland Samurais
Line: OAK -3.5
O/U: 40.5
Win Pct: OAK 59.3%
Both Oakland and Portland have been in some ugly games this season, but there’s still hope for both of these teams within their own division. Expect both teams to be ready to fight to the end in this one, because it’s going to mean a lot to each team, who’d both really like to get a win this week.

Sunday March 27, 2022 - 4:30PM
(1-4) Wisconsin Stags at (2-3) Toronto Terror
Line: TOR -2.5
O/U: 47
Win Pct: TOR 55.9%
The Stags finally picked up their first win of the season last week. Wisconsin has played well below their talent level so far this season. The Stags are hoping for another first this week; their first win against the division rival Terror. This game will mean quite a lot for both of these teams. The best record in the North division is 2-3, and with both Chicago and Pennsylvania on bye this week, Toronto can either pull themselves to the top of the division, or Wisconsin can get themselves right in the thick of a divisional race.

Sunday March 27, 2022 - 8:15PM
(4-1) Carolina Reapers at (5-0) Louisville Lightning
Line: LSV -4
O/U: 51
Win Pct: LSV 59.1%
What a treat we have for Sunday Night Football. The Lightning won in a thriller last week, on a short pass that turned into a long catch and run, stunning the Brewers and the GSL world. The Reapers are no stranger to thrilling games. Yet again in a high scoring contest, the Reapers took the game to the last play, as they won it in overtime with a game winning touchdown. Having seen the way these two teams have played this season, I’d expect this game will score in the high 30’s, low 40’s for points, and the last team to have enough time for a final drive to win it will win the game. Can’t wait for this one.

Monday March 28, 2022 - 8:15PM
(3-2) Seattle Sockeyes at (0-5) Vancouver Bears
Line: SEA -1
O/U: 44.5
Win Pct: SEA 51.2%
Seattle is starting to really pull together and are looking like a pretty good team, that can start to take charge in the Pacific division. They head across the border to face a Bears team that has been hibernating through the first part of the season, but with Spring here, is this Bears team going to wake up this week?

On Bye: (2-3) Chicago Maroons, (2-3) Las Vegas Outlaws, (2-3) Pennsylvania Keystones, (4-1) San Diego Breakers
